You may react to the events or the characters, make personal connections, respond to one another's comments or pose questions about the chapter.
After you put your answer
ReplyDeletePE
Chapter 1
ReplyDeleteI thought that this chapter wasn't very intersting but I did understand the history of Maycomb county and the people who inhabit it.
AY
Chapter 1
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to chapter 1 was that it was very chilling. What I mean is that when I read the chapter, chills were sent down my back. The chapter definetly made me want to read more.
RD
Chapter 1.
ReplyDeleteI thought this chapter jumped right in, and began confusing. I didn't understand the way the author talks, and it wasn't clear the race of the people. However, the chapter did a good job of introducing the Radley house, for it is important to the story. So, what happens with the Radleys?
The first chapter to me seems like it eshtablishing the setting so it doesn't show the conflict or some idea of the ending. No excitement.
ReplyDeleteChapter 1
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter is shocking. It is shocking because there are man poor people in this town, and there is one particular family that everyone else in the town doesn't aprove of, The Radley's.
JB
Chapter 1.
ReplyDeleteI thought that this chapter was very confusing. It went right in to introduce the main characters; Jem, Scout, and Dill. We also learn about the setting of Maycomb County. Another thing that we learn is about the Radley House. This chapter is also a little shocking, I never thought that this story would start out as strong and bold as it does.
Chapter 1- "A Small Town"
ReplyDeleteI named this chapter "A small Town", because in this chapter you learn the setting of the storyu and many details about the town that this story takes place in. You are also introduced to a few new characters in the town. You learn in this chapter about how close the town is and how everyone knows eachother, kind of like Wolcott.
~ECM~
chapter 1
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter is that it was kind of boring because nothing exciting happened. The chapter only gave us background information in the Characters.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteMiss Caroline needs to get out of her of her small little world and see what happens in Maycomb. She needs to stop being so arrogant and ignorant. Scout needs to stop listening to Miss Caroline because Miss caroline seems to have no idea what she is doing. Why would you take a job when you know nothing about the town, daily life , and the people.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to chapter 2 was that I found it very upsetting. I found it this way because Miss Caroline's personality absolutely bites! She should not be so rude or cruel to Scout on the first day of school, especially since she didn't do anything wrong.
RD
Chapter 2- "Scouts First Day"
ReplyDeleteI would name the chapter this, because it explains how excited Scout was about her first day of school. It also brings Miss Caroline into the story, and she tells Scout to have Atticus stop teaching her.
Chapter 1
ReplyDeleteI think that this chapter is mainly about introducing the characters. It tells you about a conflict or a future problem that they deal with through out the story. My thought for this chapter is why did Mr. Radley lock Boo Radley in the house for that long?
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteI was suprised that Miss Caroline was unhappy when she learned that Scout was able to read and write. I thought that she would have been impressed.
AY
Chapter 2.
ReplyDeleteThis chapter surprises me because all Scout was trying to do was explain that the Cunninghams were poor, and enjoyed reading and writing, yet she got punished for it. I thought that Miss Caroline was too harsh on it, and I feel bad for Scout. She was so excited for school, and just got disappointed.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter is that Miss Caroline is condencending. This is because she thinks that she is the only one in Maycomb who can teach Scout how to read and told Scout to tell Atticus to stop teaching her how to read so she could "undo the damage"
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteThe Ewells are very bad people. I don't know what Atticus meant when he said that the Ewwels can break the law a little?
Chapter 4
ReplyDeleteI thought that Jem is becoming a liitle obsessed with Boo Radley. Just leave the poor guy alone. I think that Boo is still alive but doesn't want to come out. Nobody understands him.
Chapter 5
ReplyDeleteI think that Jem is excuding Scout from the group because he is probably figuring out that Scout is a girl. And that Jemm and Dill are really obsessed with Boo. Let it go.
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI think that Jem and Dill are being idiots. Gett over it boys. Boo is never goiung to come out. I loved when Dill came out and gave Scout a kiss. What can I say, I love romance.
chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI think that Jem and Dill are acting like idiots. Get over it boys. Boo is never coming out. I loved it when Dill kissed Scout. What can I say I love romance.
Chapter 1.
ReplyDeleteChapter one was kind of boring, but it was still important. It describes the characters and the town, which is essential for the whole story.
Chapter 2.
ReplyDeleteChapter two really just annoyed me. Scout was just trying to help her teacher to get to know the town better, and in return, Miss Caroline hits her with a ruler. I would not like a teacher like that at all.
Chapter 3.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't really surprised by chapter three. Scout told Atticus that she didnt want to go to school anymore because Miss Caroline wouldn't let her read with him from now on. This decision was kind of expected, especially because of how mean the teacher was to Scout.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteThis chapter is shocking for several reasons. First, I would never expect a teacher to be rude to a student, which Miss Caroline is to Scout. Also, its shocking because Miss Caroline should be happy that Scout already knows how to read, and she shouldn't want to "undo the damage." Miss Caroline should try to progress Scout's education, not regress it.
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteI think that chapter 3 is a bit suprising. I would never expect Scout to be rude to Walter Cunningham. Scout actually rubs Walter Cunninghams face in dirt! Miss Caroline is oblivious to everything, she doesn't know Maycomb, she didn't know about the Cunningham's or the Ewell's, and now she doesn't know what a "cootie" is. In addition, Scout hates school more and more each day, which isn't a good thing at all.
Chapter 4,I thought, was very shocking. I thought this because Dill,Jem,and Scout had the audacity to make fun of the Radleys and Boo when they don't know the full truth about them. Also, the kids aren't so perfect either. Someone should make fun of them to see how they like it.
ReplyDeleteChapter 5
ReplyDeleteChapter 5 made me think of the Boo case in a different way. In that chapter, Miss Maudie says she doesn't think Boo is dead because she hasn't seen him being buried or anything. Before, Jem said Boo was most likely dead, but now I'm starting to agree with Miss Maudie.
RD
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI found chapter 6 funny. Dill,Jem,and Scout are so feeble-minded! They must think that they could get caught on the Radley property, considering how everytime they tried something, they got caught.
RD
Chapter One
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter was that i thought it was a boring town because there wasn't money to buy anything and the days lastest very long.
Chapter Two
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this chapter I was surprised because I thought Scout was going to like school but in the end she didn't because of Miss Caroline.
Chapter Three
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this I thought that it was weird that Burris Ewell only went to school the first day and then doesn't go again. Also I wasn't surprised that Scout doesn't want to go to school anymore after how the teacher treated her.
Chapter Four
ReplyDeleteTowards the end I got a little nervous because it seems like Atticus is on to the game that Jem, Scout, and Dill are going to play on Boo Radely.
Chapter Five
ReplyDeleteAfter I read this I was extremely surprised because I found out that Boo Radely is alive and not dead.
Chapter Six
ReplyDeleteI thought when all the adults were gossiping was a little funny because noramlly it's just kids that gossip. Also it kind of reminds me of a high school when all the kids gossip and everything spreads around.
Chapter 3-
ReplyDeleteI thought this chapter went more in depth of showing how much Scout would grow to dislike school. I believe life was rough at school for Scout, and I feel bad for her disappointment.
Chapter Seven
ReplyDeleteI was not surprised when Scout said that she was not happy with second grade because she didn't like her first school year.
Chapter Eight
ReplyDeleteAt first I didn't understand why getting a snow storm was that big of a deal until i read on. I thought it was sad when Miss Maudies house burned down too.
Chapter Nine
ReplyDeleteWhen I read what Francis said about Atticus I thought it was really rude. Also I thought it was wrong for Scout to swear around her Uncle Jack.
Chapter Ten
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe that Atticus actually shot the dog just because Calpurnia told him to. I thought that was a little sad.
Chapter Eleven
ReplyDeleteAt the beggining i felt that Mrs. Dubose was a mean old lady but towards the end I felt bad for her because she is a sick old lady who is weak.
Chapter 4-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter puts you on edge when Scout rolls onto the Radley lawn. You don't know what will happen, and you wonder wether someone will come out of the house.
Chapter 5-
ReplyDeleteI thought it was rude that Jem and Dill would leave Scout out on playing. I didn't think Jem would do such a thing, because him and Scout seemed really close.
Chapter 6-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter surprises you because I never thought they would go so close to the Radley house. However, who was the man inside that they saw the figure of?
Chapter 10-
ReplyDeleteWhat does the sin to kill a mockingbird have to do with the rest of the story? Why is it so important that it is the title of the book?
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteThis chapter made me think of kids experiences in school because every kid has that one teacher that they hate. Miss. Caroline seems like the teacher that nobody wants to teach them.
Chapter 11-
ReplyDeleteMrs. Dubose seems like a mean, rotten woman. She says things just to aggravate Jem on purpose. Why would she do this?
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteThis chapter didn't really give much to the book. The kids dared Jem to touch the Radley house and thats mainly it. Nothing really seemed to pop out at me.
Chapter 4
ReplyDeleteThis chapter showed me that people really fear the Radley's house because Jem rolled in a tire to the front steps and froze in fear. I think that Jem had froze in fear because she saw Boo Radley or something move.
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteThis chapter shows more detail about how scout would grow up to hate school. I feel sorry for her and can relate to her because I have had teachers in the past that I did not like and so I did not like the class they taught.
Chapter 4
ReplyDeleteThis Chapter showed me how people are so afraid of the Radleys house. I was confused when i read this chapter because I can't relate and relize why someone would be so afraid of Boo Radley when he never even leaves the house.
Chapter 2
ReplyDeleteAt the beginning of this chapter, I was confused about what race everyone was. As I kept reading, I understood everyone a bit more. I learned more about the Radley's and who they were.
JB
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteThe part in this chapter where it said that Bruis Willis only went to school for the first day, confused me. I later learned why. Also, Scout had a good reason to not want to go to school anymore. Atticus told her that she has to go, otherwise, he is not doing his job.
Chapter 4
ReplyDeleteWhen Scout say the tinfoil in the tree, the first thing that came to my mind was 'who is putting it there?' Also, i thoguht that it was clever of Jem and Dill to think of a new game called 'Boo Radley'.
Chapter 5
ReplyDeleteWhen i found out that the kids were going to give Boo Radley a note, the first thing that came to my mind was, how?
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteSince there was a gun shot, I wondered if Mr. Radley had found out if it was Jem, Dill, and Scout. I wondered if he had seen them, and if he did, what would happen next.
Chapter 7
ReplyDeleteWhen Jem found his pants sewn back together hanging on the fence, i wondered if the person that did that knew he was coming back. I would be scared if I were in Jem's position.
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteWhen it snowed in Maycomb County for the first time in years, I wondered if the people of Maycomb County were ready for this. No one was really prepared because they were use to rain, and hot weather. Also, i felt bad that Miss Maudie lost her house, and if I were in her position, I would not like it, but she did.
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI was surprised on the way Scout had handled her situation. Instead of getting adult help, she started a fight with a kid in her class because they called Atticus a nigger-lover. If someone called my father that, I would probably handled that situation the same way. When people make fun of Scout's father, Atticus, she takes it offensively.
JB
Chapter 10
ReplyDeleteThe quote that Atticus said involving a mockingbird was deep. He said that it was a sin to kill a mockingbird. I would never kill a mockingbird on purpose for the same reason that Atticus says it is a sin. Because they make noise for our ears, and they do not interfere with our surroundings.
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteIf i were Jem, I would hate being in his position. I would hate having to read to a crazy, sick, old lady for a month, two hours a day. That would make me crazy. Jem is a good person, she he does it because it is his punishment.
JB
Chapter 7
ReplyDeleteI think that Boo is putting all those stuff. Why would Nathan Radley lie about the whole?
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteI thought it was kind of funny when Scout said that the snow burned :). And I was so surprised about Miss. Maudie's house burning down. I was shocked when Atticus and Jem said that Boo was the one that put the blanket over Scout. I predict that Boo and Scout are going to become friends.
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI think that Cecil is a douche. Why would he say that Atticus was a "nigger lover"? Don't thse people have any respect. in my personal opinion I think that hate begins at home. Also i loved it when Scout made a comment about not letting Dill, her future husband, serve her. Francis should first not judge Dill and second he needs tape for his mouth. Why would he call Atticus a nigger lover. He needs an attitude adjustment. Scout was right to try to hurt him and Uncle Jack needs to listen.
Chapter 10
ReplyDeleteIt shocked me to learn that Atticus had a secret past. Who knew. It was kibd of cool that he can shoot something one time and get it right on the target. Poor dog. may he rest in peace.
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteI hate Mrs. Duboise. I don't feel bad about her dying. It was unfair to Jem to read to that bitter woman.
Chapter 3
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter was that Scout reminded me of myself b/c I didn't really like school b/c of my teachers and I wanted to stay home all the time.
AY
Chapter 5
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter was curious b/c I want to know why they are so obsessed with Boo Radley.
Chapter 4
ReplyDeleteI thought that this chapter was a little suspenseful because of the part when Scout rolled onto the Radley's lawn.
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteMy reaction to this chapter was surpised b/c I wanted to know what happeneds to Jem and I was left in suspense.
I thought chapter 1 was very boring. However, it establishes the setting, Maycomb County, and important characters, the Radely's, Jem, Dill, Atticus, and Scout.
ReplyDeleteChapter 7:
ReplyDeleteI thought chapter 7 was full of surprises that the reader didn't see coming. I thought it was interesting how everyday Jem and Scout would find something new in the tree. I wonder if the items have any meaning, though.
RD
I thought chapter 2 interesting because it taught the reader about how school was in the 1930's. Chapter 2 also established one of the conflicts in the story, about Scout in school.
ReplyDeleteI believe chapter 3 is important because it explained how life was rough during the Great Depression for farmers, like the Cunninghams. It also explained why Scout didn't like school in more depth.
ReplyDeletechapter 4
ReplyDeleteI found chapter 4 interesting because the author made you realize how scared most of the town actually was of the Boo Radley. This chapter was full of suspence.
chapter 5
ReplyDeleteI found this chapter very interesting because Jem and Dill became closer friends, but they often left Scout out which seemed mildly awkward in my opinion. Also, I found it interesting how the kids found out that the Radley's were most likely religious people. MCHAMMER!
chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI like how the author didn't describe or let the reader know details about the person who shot Jem with the gun. Therefore, this chapter made you predict and question.
chapter 7
ReplyDeleteI found it odd how presents kept appearing in the knot hole, but i didn't find it odd how Scout didn't like school, because she didn't like the first grade either.
chapter 8
ReplyDeleteI do not believe that it was Maycomb's first real winter weather. I also wondered if anyone would have been able to stop Miss Muadie's house from burning down. MCHAMMER
chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI found it interesting how Cecil Jacobs thought he knew weather Atticus defended niggers or not.
chapter 10
ReplyDeleteI don't completely understand why the children, especially Scout find their father embarrassing. However, i did find it a little awkward that he reads for the majority of the day.
chapter 11
ReplyDeleteI found it interesting how Mrs. Dubose typically got away with harassing the children almost everyday while they walked by to go to school. MCHAMMER
Chapter 5
ReplyDeleteThis chapter made me think of my life being the youngest child in my family. Like Scout i was left alone most times while my brother and sister left me to be with close friends too.
Chapter 8:
ReplyDeleteI thought the chapter was very interesting. I thought that it was wierd that the snowman looked liked Mr. Avery. I found the fact that Miss. Maudie's house caught on fire interesting. It never mentions how her house caught on fire, but hw she thinks it did.
RD
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI thought chapter 9 was insightful. I got to see what the whole Finch family was like and the relationships between each family member. I also got to see how strong the relationships are with everyone and the reason why most people in towndon't like Atticus.
RD
Chapter 5
ReplyDeleteI was surprised in this chapter when jem and Atticus fought at the end. I was shocked because they seemed really close. I can relate to this because i am close with my dad but we do fight very often similar to Jem and Atticus.
Chapter 9:
ReplyDeleteMy reaction was that this chapter was very emotional. It really showed all the relationships between the members of the family and how they feel towards eachother. I thought it was unfair that Scout got punished over what Francis said and did, that Uncle Jack immediately punished Scout instead of getting her side of the incident.
RD
Chapter 10:
ReplyDeleteI thought chapter 10 showed how Atticus really is. He doesn't want to have to use his skills, unless they are for a good reason and he don't want to have his kids see that side of him.
RD
Chapter 11:
ReplyDeleteThis chapter, I thought, was very powerful. It showed that love-hate relationship between Jem and Mrs. Dubose and Scout and Mrs. Dubose. I felt so bad for Jem when Mrs. Dubose died because he was very upset over it.
RD
Chapter 1-
ReplyDeleteI found chapter one to be very boring and confusing. It is hard to tell who is white and who is black, but it was boring because all the chapter did was describe charachters.
TB
Chapter 4-
ReplyDeleteChapter four had a couple of pretty suspenseful parts. Like when Scout was rolling down the hill and couldn't stop, or when she said at the end of the chapter that she heard laughter in the Radley house. That made me want to keep reading to find out what happened next.
Chapter 2-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter is where the book starts to get more interesting, because it brings more charachters into the mix, and also it causes conflict between Scout and Miss Caroline.
Chapter 5-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter made me feel bad for Scout. I would not like to be left out, like the way she was. Although she did seem to solve her problem by making friends with Miss Maudie.
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI thought chapter six was really interesting and surprising. Dill and Jem's plan was CRAZY. I would have never ever done that. It was really suspenseful when it got to the part where the dark shadow of Nathan Radley was on the porch and when the kids were running away. I didnt get why Mr. Radley sewed Jem's pants for him though.
Chapter 3-
ReplyDeleteI found this chapter further develops Miss Caroline and how it doesn't seem like she belongs in Maycomb. Also it seems odd, because she tells Scout to have Atticus stop teaching her.
TB
Chapter 4-
ReplyDeleteI found this chapter to be quite weird, because Scout and Jem keep taking random items out of a hole in the Radley's backyard, such as pennies and gum.
Chapter 7
ReplyDeleteI thought the tree in chapter seven was cool. That would have been fun to find those little presents in the tree, but I was kind of confused why Mr. Radley sealed up the tree with cement when it didn't show any signs of being sick.
Chapter 5-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter seemed to pop out at me a little bit, because Miss Maudie tells Scout and Jem that the Radley's are very religous. I never thought that they would be religous, because it never speaks of them coming out to go to church or anything.
TB
Chapter 7
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when Mr. radley covered up the tree hole wiht cement and told Jem that it was because it was dying. Did he cover it up becaue he was the one hiding the items Jem and Scout found in it?
Chapter 6-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter suprised me, because I didn't think that the kids wanted to get as close to the Radley's as they did, I was also suprised that none of the kids died, because Nathan had shot at them.
TB
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteIt was funny to see how Jem and Scout reacted to the snow, and how they made their snowman. I also felt bad for Miss Maudie when her house burnt down, even though she said it as an opportunity to built a smaller and better house.
Chapter 7-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter seemed boring to me, because all that really happened was Scout's return to school as a second grader, and the hole in the Radley's yard was filled with cement by Nathan.
TB
Chapeter 8-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter was very suprising to me, because i never knew that it actually snowed in Alabama. The snow especially suprised me, because in chapter one Maycomb was always referred to as a hot town, and also Miss Maudie's house burned down and she was excited about it.
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteI thought it was weird that the snow storm was such a big deal. Also, it was sad when Miss Maudies house burned down. I felt bad for her but and it was nice when Boo Radley gave Scout a blanket.
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteI thought this chapter was interesting and kept me reading but it was also suspenseful b/c I thought someone was going to die in the fire.
Chapter 9-
ReplyDeleteThe only part in chapter nine that stood out to me was the part where Cecil Jacobs called Atticus a nigger lover and Scout wanted to fight him, but held herself back. Other than that nothing seemed to be much of a big deal.
TB
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI thought that this chapter was ok but I was frusterated that everyone keeps making fun of Atticus because he's just doing his job. His family even makes fun of him. I was also happy that Scout beat up her cousin b/c she stood up for her father.
AY
Chapter 10
ReplyDeleteI thought that this chapter was a little weird b/c everyone is a little bit older and I also found the part where Atticus shot the dog sad and disturbing.
AY
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteScout is getting a little to big for her bridges with her swearing but I thought it was really funny how she punched her cousin in the face, even though none of her relatives did.
Chapter 10-
ReplyDeleteChapter ten confused me because Atticus said it was a sin to kill a mockingbird, but it isn't a sin to kill any other bird.
TB
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteMy reactions to this chapter were that I was suprised that Mrs.Dubose was so cruel to Scout and Jem and I felt bad for Jem when he had to read to her b/c he was just standing up for his father.
Chapter 11-
ReplyDeleteI didn't find chapter eleven to be that important, because all it did was introduce Mrs. Dubose.
Chapter 10
ReplyDeleteThe "mad dog" was really weird. I still don't really get what it is and how the dog caught it, but from how the characters reacted, it seems really bad.
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI thought it was very rude of Scout to swear in front of her uncle like she did. I know that if I did I probably would have gotten yelled at by my parents.
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteEven though Mrs. Dubose was very sick and dying, I definitely would not have read to her for a month. From what the story described, the house was dark, gloomy, and old, and Mrs. Dubose herself just sounded gross, even if it was from her sickness. Thats not an environment I would want to be in.
chapter 10
ReplyDeletei was shocked that Atticus shot the dog becasue Calpurnia wanted him too. That was a little sad.
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteI think that Mrs. Dubose is a mena lady and is very rude to Scout and Jem. She tried to make Jem get aggrevated on purpose for no reason.
Chapter 7-
ReplyDeleteIt was surprising to see that Jem found the pants mysteriously fixed and another present in the hole. Who fixed the pants and left the present?
Chapter 8-
ReplyDeleteI find it odd that they don't know what a real winter is like, because Wolcott gets very cold winters all the time. I wouldn't know what it's like to not know winter.
Chapter 9-
ReplyDeleteIt was a surprise that Scout got into a fight with another student, Cecil. Though, I thought she was right to defend her father.
Chapter 12
ReplyDeleteI think that it was good for calpurnia to bring the kids to see her life. I hate that lady Lula. I was surprised when Calpurnia said that Tom Robinson was being sued because some trashy Ewell said that Robinson raped his girl.
Chapter 13
ReplyDeleteFirst of all Aunt Alexandra seems like a bitch. Really all she is doing is changing Scout for the worst and Atticus is going along with it. Something is going on with Atticus but I don't know yet.
Chapter 6
ReplyDeleteI think that the kids were very curious because the really wanted to sneek over to the Radley house so they did. It made me wonder where the gun shot came from.
Chapter 7
ReplyDeleteI think that these gifts showing up should have made them a little creeped out. The soap that resembled both of them after they took other things from the tree.
Chapter 8
ReplyDeleteI think that the blanket was Boo trying to get Jem and the rest spooked or to stop them peeking into his house.
Chapter 9
ReplyDeleteI would do the same thing because if someone called my father that then I would flip. This must have hurt Scout to hear people call her dad names.
Chapter 10
ReplyDeleteJem and Scout come to find out that their dad is great with a gun. This was a shock because he was older than most fathers in
Maycomb.
Chapter 11
ReplyDeleteThe kids always walk by the one house on their street that has the old lady nobody likes. everyone has this lady on their street. Mrs. Dubose seemed to yell at Jem and Scout everyday.
Chapter 14
ReplyDeleteI thought that it was wrong for Dill to run away from home and lie to Scout and Jem about it. But I also think that it was kind of smart to hide under Scout's bed.
Chapter 15
ReplyDeleteI thought it was kind of funny how Scout kicked that guy and everyone else got scared.
chapter 16
ReplyDeleteI have no important reaction to this chapter. It's just a chapter that fits as a bridge between what happened before the trial and the trial itself.
Chapter 17
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious that both Mr. Ewell and Mr.Tata are lying.
Chapter 18
ReplyDeleteI think that Mayella is a baby and that it was her father that beat her and Mr.Ewell blamed it on Tom.
Chapter 19
ReplyDeleteI think that Tom was innocent. She seems to be an ok guy. he wouldn't rape anyone. And why would he when he had a wife and children?
Chapter 20
ReplyDeleteI think that Atticus is very wise and that his speech was amazing.
Chapter 21
ReplyDeleteI think it was unfair that Tom was pronounced guilty because he is innocent.
Chapter 22
ReplyDeleteI think that Mr. Ewell is a bastard. And that he neesds to get his brain checked.
Chapter 23
ReplyDeleteI have no reaction but I thought it was kind of funny when Jem showed Scout his chest hair. I cracked up.
Chapter 24
ReplyDeleteOMG. I'm so surprised that Tom is dead.
Chapter 25
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Helen, Tom's wife, and Tom's children. The prison guards just killed an innocent man.
Chapter 26
ReplyDeleteMiss Gates is the biggest hypocrite. I think that what Hitler did and what the people of Maycomb were doing to the blacks is thev same thing.
Chapter 27
ReplyDeleteMr.Ewell has lost his mind.
Chapter 28
ReplyDeleteMr.Ewell is a jackass. How dare he attack Scout and Jem. He deserved to die. I think that he wasn't human because humans have reasoning and Mr.Ewell didn't .So that makes him an animal.
Chapter 29
ReplyDeleteBoo is back. I can't believe he came out.
Chapter 30
ReplyDeleteMr. Tate finally confesses that he was wrong and that Tom was an innocent man.
Chapter 31
ReplyDeleteThe rumors about Boo are not true. Boo is a harmless guy. He's actually very nice. I feel bad that Scout never saw him again.
Chapter 12
ReplyDeleteThe kids go to a colored church and see how they live. Its horrible that Tom Robinson gets accused for rape by Ewell
Chapter 13
ReplyDeleteThis chapter was about the kids aunt making Atticus tell them about the Finches ancestry.
Chapter 14
ReplyDeleteIt shocked me when Dill showed up under Scouts bed.
Chapter 15
ReplyDeleteIt made me worry when the group surrounded him. Thanks to Scout the men leave.
Chapter 16
ReplyDeleteIn this chapter the kids find a way into the court room and sit in the balcony. The colored go the good seats because they can see everything.
Chapter 17
ReplyDeleteIn this chapter Atticus fights for Tom Robinson in court. Atticus brings up some interesting facts.
Chapter 18
ReplyDeleteAgain Atticus brings up good evidence that showed me he couldn't have done it.
Chapter 19
ReplyDeleteWhen I read this chapter I thought that they would not believe what Tom Robinsons says.
Chapter 12-
ReplyDeleteI think Jem was too harsh on Scout. He has grown up, but it doesn't mean he has to force Scout to also.
Chapter 13-
ReplyDeleteI felt bad for Scout when she was crying because of Atticus. It is not her fault she grew up without a mother and isn't as lady-like.
Chapter Twelve- I thought it was strange that Dill didn't come back to maycomb. Also I didn't really understand why Calpurnia took Jem and Scout to a colored church.
ReplyDeleteChapter Thirteen- I thought this chapter was kinda funny because there aunt Alexandra came to try and make Jem and Scout more feminine.
ReplyDeleteChapter Fourteen- I thought that it wasn't really good that Dill ran away from home and that Jem and Scout were fighting.
ReplyDeleteChapter Fifteen- I thought it was brave for Atticus to stand up to the group of men and for Scout to come try to defend her dad
ReplyDeleteChapter Sixteen- I thought it was interesting that everybody from all over the town came to the court room and that they were interested to see what was going to happen.
ReplyDeleteChapter Seventeen- When I read this chapter I thought there was a lot of stuff going on because there was a lot of questioning in the court.
ReplyDeleteChapter Eighteen- I was surprised to find out that Mayella wasn't really raped and it was just her father who beat her.
ReplyDeleteChapter Nineteen- My reaction to this chapter was that I am nervous to see what will happen next in the court room and who will be found guilty.
ReplyDeleteChapter Twenty- I wasn't really surprised that Bob Ewell was found guilty because a lot of the trial he was trying to make it seem like Tom was the guilty one.
ReplyDeleteChapter Twenety One- I was surprised to find out that Tom Robinson was guilty.
ReplyDeleteChapter Twenty Two- I felt bad for Jem because he was depressed and sad about Maycomb and he said his illusions of Maycomb have shattered.
ReplyDeleteChapter 14-
ReplyDeleteI was surprised when Jem and Scout found Dill hiding. I don't think that Aunt Alexandra is a nice person either.
Chapter 15-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter was very suspenseful when the men wanted Atticus to leave his place at the jail. I was surprised when Mr. Cunningham got them to leave.
Chapter 16-
ReplyDeleteI love how Scout, Jem, and Dill always sneak around. I found it amusing that they got in to watch the trial.
Chapter 17-
ReplyDeleteI never expected Mr. Ewell to be suspected for leaving bruises on his daughter. I found it suspicious though that no doctor was called.
Chapter Twenty Three- When I read this chapter I thought everyone was caring because everyone was talking about Tom.
ReplyDeleteChapter Twenty Four- I was very surprised to find out that Tom attempted to escape and was shot 17 times.
ReplyDeleteChapter Twenty Five- I was kinda of sad when I found out that Tom died.
ReplyDeleteChapter 18-
ReplyDeleteThis chapter makes me believe that Mayella is lying. I believe that her father did beat her.
Chapter Twenty Six- I thought it was good that the kids were going by to school but I thought it was rude that another teacher of Scout is being rude.
ReplyDeleteChapter 19-
ReplyDeleteI feel bad for Mr. Robinson. I believe his story rather than the others.
12 - I found it interesting how a lady criticized Calpernia for bringing white children to the church.
ReplyDelete13 - After reading the chapter I questioned why the children needed feminine influence?
ReplyDelete14 - Why did Dill's parents not pay any attention to him?
ReplyDelete15 - Why does Jem and Scout follow their father everywhere?
ReplyDelete16 - I found it interesting how the whole town gathered around and in the court house to watch the trial.
ReplyDelete17 - Why did Mayella hug Tom? Did she try and get him in trouble?
ReplyDeleteChapter 20
ReplyDeleteThis chapter gave Atticuses final word that Ewell hit Mayella not Tom.
18 - I find it interesting how Mayella didn't put up a better fight if Tom really did harm her.
ReplyDeleteChapter 12
ReplyDeleteThis chaoter confused me becaue i couldnt understand why everyone believe Bob Ewell when he accused Tom Robinson of rape. is it because Tom is black?
19 - After reading this chapter, there is a reason why Bob would beat his daughter, but no found reason of why Tom would, so why was Tom found guilty?
ReplyDeleteChapter 21
ReplyDeleteThe jury says Tom was guilty. That is normal back then but its not ok to me.
20 - After reading this chapter I wasn't sure what Atticus meant by medical evidence.
ReplyDeleteChapter 22
ReplyDeleteThe people from the balcony brought food to the Finch house thanking him for helping Tom Robinson.
21 - After reading this chapter I wondered why didn't Atticus want his children to hear the jury at the courthouse?
ReplyDelete22 - I find it interesting how the Maycomb black population delivers food to the Finch house. Why did they do that?
ReplyDelete23 - I think Scout wants to help Tom out because she is scared that he will have to go in the electric chair.
ReplyDelete24 - I didn't like how Tom was automatically shot 17 times instead of receiving a warning or something not so severe.
ReplyDelete25 - I wondered why Jem was so serious when he told Scout not to kill the bug.
ReplyDelete26 - I find it interesting how the chapter says that Jem and Scout say they are too old to be scared of the Radley house? I think something is going to happen that will be very fishy sometime soon.
ReplyDelete27 - Why does Bob Ewell blame Atticus for "getting" his job?
ReplyDeleteChapter 12
ReplyDeleteI thought this chapter was insightfull. You definetly got to see how some blacks feel about having whites in there church and just how different cultures were.

Chapter 13
ReplyDeleteI thought Aunt Alexandra was just trying to help Scout out with her feminine side. She obviously thought she was doing the right thing by intruding on the Finch family. It also shows just how good her relationship is with Scout and Atticus.

28 - I wonder if the person who killed Bob is jealous of him or if they just don't like him.
